In the echo chamber

Tuesday  27th September. By Paul.

This is one of the hardest blogs to write as the hike today was magnificent. It still is. We are camped in a huge amphitheatre, carved by water into sandstone rock. Quite difficult to describe- the walls are 150m high and carved inwards…looking straight upwards I see the cliff, no sky.

Our voices are amplified and magnified back to us, so we talked in whispers all evening. Talking more than ten metres apart is impossible due to the echo. But every bend in the river is likoe this..huge sweeping cliffs tower over us, literally.

Day one of a seven day hike and I couldn’t be happier…..
