We’ve hiked 21 of the 227 hikes listed in our Canadian Rockies Trail Guide. A few people already asked us which is our favourite.
If I had to recommend just one Rockies hike I would suggest the Skyline because it’s such a classic ridge walk. The long high ridge section is like nothing we’ve hiked before, and anyone can do this hike. Take your kids, first time hikers, anyone. But that’s the downside too. Lots of inexperienced and unprepared people messing up the trail.
Hiking in Yoho was again something special. We effectively linked together several day hikes to make a circuit. Yoho is so pretty, it has everything on offer, lakes, peaks, ridges, views …
But our real favourite was the Rockwall. It’s awesome from the first day, and yet each day got even better. The whole concept of the hike is great, following the base of the Rockwall range. Each day ascends to one or more passes with breathtaking views. There were some really special moments, especially the last pass and campsite at Floe Lake. Wow!
