Monday 5th September. By Paul.
Yoho National Park is well-known for it’s great day hikes, so we pieced together some great walks and made it a five day outing. The first day was very short, as we drove from Jasper in the morning; we ended up hiking to Yoho Lake beginning at 5.30pm. We woke up to snow (again) and started out on our planned circular day hike to a pass and down to Emerald lake (and back up to Yoho lake). Awesome stuff, particularly with the snow.
The next morning was freezing as it cleared overnight and it was quite apt that we were to start the Iceline trail. The walk is just STUNNING…glaciers, mountains, lakes…everything. We happily made it to Little Yoho valley campsite and dried out our gear from the heavy weather the past days.
Day 4 involved a steep climb up and scenic descent down the Whaleback mountain, where we saw a (too) friendly mountain goat and past some lovely waterfalls. The next day was a long and easy walk out to finish a superb figure of eight multi-day hike.
