It’s a beautiful day

Saturday 30th July. By Paul.

The past five days had some bad weather, and our next day was a long crossing from the east to the west arms of the park. We were a bit nervous about what this day would bring, and as we opened the tent fly at 5am to see blue sky it was pretty exciting.

Actually everything fell into place today. The sun was out and also the winds were behind us, as was a strong current. We rocketed past the areas that we were nervous about….steep cliffs, an unstable part of the mountain and finally a renown bear area which is unfortunately one of the few places where a kayak could land. We saw a bear, too, and her three little cubs.

To round things up, we made camp early at 3pm, washed and hung out our clothes to dry in the sun, and drank a bottle of merlot with great views if the mountains in the west.

Our first blog, five star tent, was a six month project in parallel with a journey on foot and by kayak from Alaska to Patagonia. Now back to real life, Jodie is inspired to start blogging again, just a little bit, with photo theme hop.
