Scrambling together enough food and equipment for a nine day hike is normally simple enough, but we were heading into bear territory in Kluane national park. Bear canisters suddenly restricts the volume of food, and only with some creative packing (read crushing) did everything fit.
Setting off in the rain, in mosquito infested lowlands, brought back memories of other trips, except this was longer – it was a two day hike across the tundra and marshland just to get to the base of these mountains.
So we are in the company of caribou, spongy tundra, mozzies, and the almost continuous sun for the first few days. Now if only we had some breeze….
